        We are thrilled to have you join this training program, designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to navigate the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) effectively and fully engage with the Tanzania ICTs Competence Standard for Teachers (2025).

        During this orientation, you will:

        • Understand the training objectives, prerequisites, and expectations.
        • Create and access your Moodle account seamlessly.
        • Navigate the Moodle LMS confidently to access learning materials and activities.
        • Learn about portfolio-based assessment methods.
        • Understand plagiarism policies and maintain academic integrity.
        • Access the technical and academic support services available to you.
      • Unit 1: Policy understanding through classroom action URL

        Educational policies should not be limited to files and streams of administrative talk. They should be implemented and lived in the classroom. Policy Understanding through Classroom Action aims to implement the intentions of a policy in the teaching and learning process. When teachers interpret and implement policies in their classroom practices, students benefit from equitable, innovative, and inclusive education. This approach connects theory to practice, guaranteeing that the goals of educational reform encompass aspirations as well as achievements. It positions teachers with the authority to enact change as they exemplify the aspirations of the national education policy in all they do in a school day—curriculum implementation, integration of ICT, assessment, and classroom control. 

        In this unit, you will translate policy statements into practical classroom practices. You will also reflect on how ICT integration in teaching aligns with national education goals. Finally, you will demonstrate ways to implement policy guidelines through lesson planning, assessment, and the use of technology.

      • Unit 12: Create virtual and flipped classrooms URL

        Here, you’ll discover how technology can make teaching more interactive, student-centered, and exciting. You’ll learn practical strategies for designing virtual lessons and creating flipped learning experiences that help students take an active role in their own learning.

        This is a hands-on, practice-focused unit. You will experiment with digital platforms, build engaging learning materials, take part in discussions and peer activities, and create real classroom resources like flipped lesson plans and digital content.

      • Unit 13: Digital administrative tools for schools and organising the physical learning environment URL

        In Tanzanian schools, digital systems are more efficient, accurate, and accessible than paper-based methods. They save time, prevent data loss, and make it easy to track student progress and school records. By reducing paperwork and improving transparency, digital tools help schools operate more smoothly and prepare learners for a technology-driven future.

        In this unit, you will explore the models of deploying ICT in Schools, effectively integrate digital tools to improve school administration, and manage E-waste while creating well-structured, learner-friendly physical environments.

      • Unit 14: Teacher professional development URL

        ICT-enabled Teacher Professional Development (TPD) has become an essential approach for supporting teachers in continuous learning and adapting to modern educational needs. With digital tools and platforms, teachers can now access resources, collaborate, and learn beyond the boundaries of their schools. In this unit, you will explore how to implement School-Based Learning Communities (SBLCs) to foster collaboration and peer learning. You will also gain skills to participate in MOOCs and Online Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) that connect you with global networks of educators. Finally, you will learn to design an ICT-enabled TPD plan that ensures sustained growth and professional excellence.

      • Unit 15: Internet safety, cybersecurity and digital citizenship URL

        This unit will equip you with essential knowledge and skills to use the internet responsibly, protect against cyber threats, and promote positive digital citizenship. It emphasizes safe online practices, safeguarding digital identity, and understanding of Tanzania’s legal framework on cybercrime. Through interactive activities, discussions, quizzes, and projects, you will gain the skills to become a digital role model and promote a safe, ethical, and responsible online learning environment. We encourage active participation and collaboration as we work together to build a culture of digital safety and citizenship in Tanzania.
