Assessment instructions
Miss Gomez teaches Grade 9 Life Sciences at Sunnyside Secondary School. June exams are around the corner and she’s not confident that her learners understand the Systems in the Human body as well as they should in order to pass the mid-year exam. She has been trying to revise by going through past papers but can see that the learners are bored and disengaged.
She decides to try something new. She is going to get her learners to create a PowerPoint presentation summarising the important points for each of the following systems in the body: Digestive, Circulatory, Respiratory, Musculoskeletal, Nervous and Reproductive.
Challenges:
- She has never used PPT before
- She can only give the learners 8 hours to
complete the presentation
- Learners are complaining that it’s too
much work
- Miss Gomez is not sure what do with the presentations
once everyone has completed them.
- How will she mark them fairly?
- How will she ensure that they are of a
good standard and quality?
- How will she share the information from
the PPTs with the rest of the class?
Give some thought as to how you would help Miss Gomez to address the challenges she faces. On a piece of paper make notes on how you would address the various challenges.

- Create a PPT presentation where you share you advice for addressing each of the challenges faced by Miss Gomez.
