A] Introduction
Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is cited as one of the strategies for effective curriculum implementation. (Curriculum Framework for Primary and Secondary Education 2015-2022).
The objectives for CPD include:
- Support continuous improvement and delivery of integrated services
- Improve recruitment and retention and provide career pathways
- Support the development of learning organisations
- Improve the effectiveness, quality and relevance of learning
- Encourage the use of a range of flexible learning and development approaches to strengthen work-based learning
Before we going any further, discuss the following topic with your peers:- School X won a prize for having the best professional development for its staff. What CPD methods do you think they were using?

Assignment
Throughout this online course, you have been requested to reflect, discuss, create presentations and submit your thoughts on the various concepts presented.
For this final assignment, we would like you to, in a Word document, consolidate and complete your personal change plans on how you, as the school leader, will support the ECD teacher and improve learning outcomes in your school. This document needs to include, but is not limited to:
- An analysis of your school's current situation with regards to ECD (a SWOT analysis: strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats)
- How a conducive learning environment will be created (or improved on)
- Lesson observation / feedback strategies
- Practice-based coaching initiatives
- CPD strategies
- Resource mobilisation strategies
For each of your plans, an action date and a review date needs to be included. This personal action plan will be a working document and needs to be regularly reviewed and monitored.Submit your plan using the assignment submission tool below.
