Unit 6
This Unit requires four hours of formal study time. You may spend an additional two hours on revision.
The aim of this unit is that upon completion, teachers will be able to demonstrate the capability of using the internet including e-mail, search, and social media functions in classwork.

In a Word Document, reflect on your own use of social media platform in the classroom. How might social media enhance your collaboration with peers, students and parents?
You have examined that social media is a major element of ICT. It has taken over how we communicate with one another – there are more social media platforms that you can count. Becoming familiar with the more popular platforms will allow you to interact with your students on a more meaningful level and can make your life easier.
Remember: with the advantages of social media come the disadvantages, and it is important to be aware of both. Review the e-safety policy that you created in the previous unit on the Educational Internet (Unit 3). Now that you are aware of the influence of social media, a school safety policy is even more important as students start to engage with social media.
