Effective school leadership for improved ECD outcomes

Create a PowerPoint presentation on the lesson observations procedure which currently exists in your school. Ensure that the following points are covered in your presentation:

• What makes you (or your teachers) uncomfortable about being observed teaching?
  
• What is your school's current procedure with regards to lesson observations?
  
• What protocols do you follow?
  
• What do you think are the benefits of lesson observations in the ECD classroom?
  
• What prevents you from observing ECD teachers in a lesson?
  
• What method do you use to provide feedback?
  
• Who observes the lessons?
  
• Do you feel that the lesson observations are effective?
  
• How often do the lesson observations take place (with the same teacher)?
  
• Are action plans and goals set in the feedback sessions? Are these reviewed in the next session to see if the teacher has achieved the goals?
  
• How can you improve this process?
  
• Do your teachers buy-in to this process?
