Different uses for eMail
E-mail can be used in many different ways for both teaching and learning. Let’s look at some of the main uses of this valuable tool:
- Set
up appointments and meetings with colleagues or parents by sending an e-mail to
them
- You
can answer questions for students about assignments, reading tasks, or
practical work. This makes dealing with administration faster and easier.
- E-mail
is also useful if you have students who have trouble communicating in class or
if you run out of time in class and need to send a message to the class.
- You
can keep a record of communication between you an other people so if you need
to, you can refer to it at a later stage. This also makes it easier to remember
who sent you e-mails and when.
- Using
e-mail as a teaching tool will allow you to prepare your students for
university and for the working world. It is a critical skill to be able to
communicate via e-mail.
- E-mail
can also be useful if you want to have discussions between your students. You
can send a message to the entire group and ask them to reply, so that everyone
in the group receives the messages.
