Systematic evaluation of digital teaching resources

Digital teaching resources can fall within a wide range of reliability. Some sources are completely unreliable, while others are highly reliable. However, many sources fall in-between the completely unreliable and the highly reliable.

It is a good practice to always evaluate all sources of information using meaningful evaluation criteria - when it comes to academic purposes. When you research a topic, it is important to use reliable sources. Reliable means credible, objective and trustworthy. Finding reliable sources for your teaching is extremely important to ensure we understand the whole truth about the topic we are researching. It is only when we use reliable sources that we can provide reliable information to our learners.

In our work as teachers and researchers, when we evaluate, we look at the quality – academic quality, pedagogical quality, didactic quality, and technical quality. There are systematic ways to determine the reliability of a resource.
