About the National Policy on ICT in Education 2019

The tremendous potential of ICT to enhance access and improve the quality of education inspired the National Policy on ICT in Education of 2019. The National Policy on ICT aims at providing guidelines to assist states in optimising the use of ICT in schools within a national policy framework.
 The emergence of new technologies has made it possible for the use of ICT in education to increase considerably yearly. These technologies have gained great relevance in Nigeria, having a wide area of application in various sectors such as education entertainment, administration, and industries.

The application of ICT is beneficial in improving Nigeria's educational system and gives the learner a better experience. Through the policy, teachers will have an in-depth knowledge of the national ICT policy and be able to implement the policy in their practice. A technologically-advanced workforce will lead to the growth of ICT experience in Nigeria. New instructional techniques that use ICTs provide a different modality of instruments.

The Nigerian government considers qualitative education a key component of its developmental Agenda.  The development of the human capital for realising the national vision needs to be enhanced by a new set of knowledge, skills and attitude, and the individual citizen needs to be fully equipped to be competitive as well as meet the challenges of the emergent environment.  This implies a robust consideration for the integration of ICT into education.
