What are digital teaching resources?

Digital teaching resources are entities produced specifically to support teaching, learning, and research. Education is a constantly changing field and as a teacher, you want to ensure that the resources you use reflect current pedagogical practices as provided in the curricula.

There is the intense use of digital resources in education due to the advances in ICT. These resources come in different formats: Text, (smartphone applications, online articles, websites, e-books, blogs, manuals, reports), Graphics (photos, paintings, drawings, cartoons, illustrations), Videos, audio, Simulations, Games, etc.

Digital teaching resources can be classified into two:

  • Courseware (purpose-built, computer-based resources designed for education and training)
  • Web resources (any information available on the web that is relevant to intended learning aims)
