Unit 6 Audio Summary

Hi, greetings from your course developers Anne Njagi - TSC and Makoba Kizito - CEMASTEA.

Congratulations on successful completion of unit 6 on project based learning otherwise known as PBL. I hope you enjoyed going through the course whose objectives were to identify and describe ICT tools that support project based learning as well as describing how to structure real world problems into a project design.

The focus of PBL is on student-centred inquiry and group learning to solve real world problems with the teacher acting as a facilitator. The unit also exposed you to interactive websites and videos. I hope you enjoyed interacting with others during the chat on how to fit project based learning into your lesson.

The principles of PBL are?

  1. begin with the end in mind;
  2. craft the driving question;
  3. plan the assessment;
  4. map the project;
  5. manage the process

Successful application of principles of PBL in your teaching will enable your learners to;

  1. develop deeper knowledge about your subject;
  2. become more motivated to learn;
  3. improve their research and problem solving skills;
  4. make a connection on how what they learn at school can be used in real life

I am sure that when you introduce project based learning into your teaching, your learners will enjoy and you will have a great time being a facilitator as well as a co-learner.

Thank you
