Unit 32: Social Networks for Teaching, Learning and Communication

In this unit, we will investigate how we can use social networks to help us communicate with our wider school community. `We will be looking at two social networking tools: Facebook and WhatsApp.

Mrs. Ncube has been using WhatsApp with her students but she needs a way to be able to communicate with other teachers. She decides to create a Facebook group where they can interact with one another, discuss things about the school and post photos and videos of school events. She advises you to do the same.

You have a choice of two options for this assignment. You must only complete ONE:
OPTION 1:
Create a group on Facebook for the parents of children in your class or for other school teachers in your school. Once you have created the group, remember to tell other parents/teachers about it and tell them that they can join the group – all they have to do is search for the group’s name on Facebook and click “Join”!
After you have created the group, discuss in the forum what you think acceptable and unacceptable behaviour on Facebook is.
