Unit Discussion — From Multimedia to Authoring: What is Possible in Your Classroom?
This unit introduced four related ideas:
- Multimedia can enrich lessons and support diverse learners,
- PowerPoint is a first step for teachers to begin authoring digital media,
- Simulations allow learners to explore concepts actively and safely, and
- Authoring tools such as H5P, Canva, Google Sites or iSpring can help teachers build structured, interactive lessons.
In one post, respond to ALL of the following:
-
Multimedia in your subject:
Give one realistic example of how multimedia (audio, video, infographic, or animation) could improve a topic you currently teach. -
PowerPoint as a starting point:
Describe one thing you can already do in PowerPoint that helps you author better learning materials — OR one new feature you plan to start using. -
Simulations:
Identify one part of your syllabus where a simulation (real or digital) could help learners understand better than a normal explanation. -
Advanced authoring tools:
If you were to move beyond PowerPoint, which tool (H5P, Canva, Google Sites, iSpring, etc.) do you think would fit your context best and why?
After posting your response:
Read the post of at least one colleague and reply with either:
- A suggestion to improve their idea, or
- A question that helps them think deeper.
- What digital tools did you explore or use for the first time?
- How has your understanding of curriculum materials changed?
- What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
- How do you plan to apply digital authoring in your teaching practice?
