Conclusion

As we have seen in this unit, e-mail is a useful tool that can be used for teaching and learning in the classroom. It is a cost-effective, fast way of communicating in a professional manner without having to give out personal information such as your cellphone number. Even though there are some negative aspects of using e-mail, they can be avoided if you are careful and you use the service properly.

By now, you should be able to:

  • Explain what e-mail is
  • Explain what an e-mail address is
  • List different types of e-mail services
  • Open up your own e-mail account
  • Maintain your e-mail account
  • Evaluate useful scenarios in which e-mail might be used to support learning
