Hello learners, my name is Ann Brenda Nyanjugu and I would like to give a brief summary on unit 14. A personal learning network (PLN) is an informal learning network consisting of the people a learner interacts with to derive knowledge. There are 3 types of PLN
- Personally maintained synchronous connections;
- Personally and socially maintained semi-synchronous connections;
- Dynamically maintained asynchronous connections.
A PLN has several benefits which include;
- Professional development;
- Location of resources for your classroom, such as free websites and software;
- Get lesson plan ideas from master teachers;
- Learn about new technology and how to integrate it into your teaching;
- Find collaborative solutions;
- Find interesting links to education news.
PLN tools enable us to build a reliable network. They include; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Skype, blogs etc.
