Resource 12: Integration of Technology in the Classroom (Video)

View

The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into curriculum practice has become an essential component of modern education. ICT is no longer viewed simply as a set of tools, but as a transformative force that reshapes the way teachers design lessons, deliver content, and engage learners. By embedding ICT into curriculum practice, educators can create dynamic, interactive, and student-centered learning environments that prepare learners with the digital competences required in the 21st century.

ICT integration involves more than adding technology to lessons—it requires aligning digital tools with curriculum objectives and competences, subject content, and pedagogical strategies. It allows teachers to support diverse learning activities, enhance creativity and collaboration, and make learning more inclusive and accessible. For example, digital simulations can deepen understanding in science, language apps can strengthen literacy skills, and online collaborative platforms can foster teamwork in social studies or arts.

When thoughtfully applied, ICT complements traditional teaching methods rather than replacing them. Blended approaches combining face-to-face instruction with digital tools enable teachers to maintain the strengths of conventional pedagogy while leveraging the efficiency, flexibility, and interactivity of technology. This effective integration enriches both lesson preparation and delivery, ensuring that the curriculum remains relevant to the needs of today’s learners and adaptable to the challenges of tomorrow.
